All May Festival and VAE concerts are canceled through May 31, 2020

In compliance with Governor Mike DeWine’s standing mass-gathering restrictions and his recent directive to stay at home, and in an effort to protect audiences, musicians, employees and the community from the spread of COVID-19, all May Festival performances through May 31, 2020 are canceled.

The ongoing restrictions on assemblages of more than 10 people became immediately problematic for collaborative art forms such as ours to continue with rehearsals and production plans. Thus, it is with heavy hearts that the remaining performances this season must be canceled.

Please see the canceled events listed below.

• Vocal Arts Ensemble: Sacred Heart (March 29)
• May Festival at the Basilica (April 5)
• May Festival Cabaret (May 21)
• Beethoven’s Ninth (May 22
• John Adams Conducts El Niño (May 23)
• May FestivALL Sing (May 24)
• May Festival Presents St. Thomas Gospel Choir (May 27)
• “I Was Looking At The Ceiling And Then I Saw The Sky” (May 28)
• America’s Sound [North] (May 29)
• America’s Sound [South] (May 30)
• “I Was Looking At The Ceiling And Then I Saw The Sky” (May 31)

This cancellation will have a significant financial impact for the May Festival. We are especially appreciative of our generous supporters who will consider donating their tickets for these performances. Throughout our history, the May Festival has navigated challenges and continues to thrive because of the strength of our community. Now, as always, we are grateful for our community’s extraordinary support.

Ticket holders for canceled concerts are encouraged to consider donating the value of their ticket back for a tax credit or converting their ticket into a gift certificate. Nearly one-third of audiences have chosen to donate their tickets for canceled performances so far, which helps the May Festival tremendously during this extraordinarily challenging time.

To help ensure the May Festival’s future, we also ask our community to please consider the role music plays in your lives and support your May Festival Chorus with a gift of any amount today.

Thank you for your continued support of the May Festival.

What are my ticket options?

Donate your ticket. As a non-profit arts organization, we rely on the audience we serve. By donating your tickets, you will continue to support our ability to share music with the Cincinnati community. If you donate your tickets, you will receive a gift receipt for your tax purposes. If you wish to donate your tickets, you do not need to call and the May Festival sincerely thanks you for your donation. A tax donation receipt will be mailed automatically this summer.

Exchange your tickets for a gift certificate, which can be used at any time.

Ticket refund: For ticket refunds, questions or other ticket options, email contact@mayfestival.com or call the Box Office at 513.381.3300 (M-F 10-2; Sat 10-2). Please be aware that call volume will be heavy, and longer-than-usual wait times are to be expected.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of the May Festival.
