Glimpse into the love, life and intimacy between two of the 20th century’s most prominent artists. Celebrated soprano Renée Fleming and baritone Rod Gilfry portray painter Georgia O’Keeffe and photographer Alfred Stieglitz as a montage of their lives, captured through art, photos and love letters, is revealed on a screen above the stage.
Capture Your Own Creative Moment
In partnership with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, join the Cincinnati Art Museum in the foyer to explore the artwork and personal details from the lives of Georgia O’Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz, drawn from the museum’s collection. Step in and immerse yourself in a staged photobooth inspired by the artists’ former studio and capture your own creative moment! This interactive experience is free with the purchase of a concert ticket.
Pre-Concert Performance
At 6:15 PM in the balcony well, experience a performance by Southern Gateway Chorus, a male a cappella harmony chorus. Southern Gateway Chorus promotes vocal music education for youth, and provides family friendly entertainment in the barbershop style. The Chorus also participates in the Barbershop Harmony Society annual international competition from which they have 24 top five medals with two being the International Championship medal.
Pre-Concert Talk
At 6:30 pm join us in Corbett Tower for a pre-concert talk moderated by Associate Director of Choruses Jason Alexander Holmes. Holmes will be joined by Dr. Earl Rivers, to discuss tonight’s program. Dr. Rivers is professor emeritus of conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he served for more than 47 years. Dr. Rivers is also Music Director Emeritus of the Vocal Arts Ensemble Cincinnati, which he led for 20 seasons from 1988-2008. He continues to serve as Director of Music at Hyde Park’s Knox Presbyterian Church where he leads the Knox Choir. Dr. Rivers has received Choral America’s Michael Korn Founders Award for Development of the Choral Art, honoring a lifetime of significant contributions to the professional choral arts.
