In the 2021 May Festival’s third concert, Principal Conductor Juanjo Mena and the CSO joined the Chorus in this bouquet of heartfelt works. This performance featured the “radiantly sublime” (The Los Angeles Times) soprano Joélle Harvey shining in a mystical work by Britten and the “roomy, relaxed tenor” (The New York Times) of Paul Appleby in selections from Schubert’s Lieder. Sopranos and altos of the May Festival Chorus contributed two ethereal hymns from Holst’s Rig Veda, as well as selections from Los Angeles composer Reena Esmail’s tribute to women who have shaped the world.

This performance will be available to view online starting late September. Subscribers to the 2021 May Festival and donors who have given at least $50 since July 1, 2020, will have UNLIMITED access to this concert through April 2022.
